Aftab Shivdasani | Aamna Shariff | New Release | Aloo Chat

Aftab Shivdasani plays Nikhil, the lead character and lives in America with his girlfriend Aamna, played by Aamna Shariff. Aamna makes her film debut in "Aloo Chaat."

Aftab Shivdasani travels back to India to tell his Punjabi family about Aamna, a muslim girl, only to have them object to his decision to marry her. Aftab is then left with the quandary of disobeying his family, or disobeying his heart, which belongs to Aamna Shariff.

Director Robby Grewal says, "Aloo Chaat was conceived as a film with the objective of entertaining the audience, with a liberal dose of fun and laughter, but at the same time leaving a pertinent question regarding discrimination of people on the basis of caste and creed. It̢۪s a film set in Delhi with all the trappings of a middle class Punjabi household. I seriously believe Punjabis are the funniest species on the planet, and I have attempted to capture that very essence of Punjabi humor in my film."

"Aloo Chaat," a family film, showcases a cross section of punjabi life with the a very possible situation. The movie is produced by Mirchi Movies and actor Anuj Saxena's Maverick Productions in association with Red Ice films. The soundtrack is out with RDB returning from "Singh is Kinng" to perform "Aloo Chaat" for the film. RDB brings energy and fun to the soundtrack which perfectly reflects the films character.

Also appearing in the film is American born actress Linda Arsenio. Linda has been acting in several Tamil and Telugu films but had her breakout into Bollywood with Kabir Khans "Kabul Express." When asked about Punjabi culture, Linda notes ''Punjabis are a bunch of spirited people. Moreover, the way they dance, the kind of costumes they wear, the style they possess, the sweetness they carry is all commendable. My entrance in this Punjabi household is also done very nicely. The character I play has been presented in a rather interesting manner. Moreover, there is a nice twist to the story that I bring, something that will have audience in splits.''
